Collaborations with H&L Agro & Newport Fersan
H& L Agro and Newport Fersan have donated input materials to assist farmers to boost production during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) will be distributing a portion of these input materials to farmers island-wide. The distribution process began at a Handing Over Ceremony in Dunkeld, St. Catherine.
Speaking at the Ceremony Hon. J.C. Hutchinson congratulated the input suppliers for stepping up to the cause of assisting our farmers with the much needed boost to produce and produce consistently during this period.
He announced that the Ministry through RADA has initially allocated $10M from the Production Incentive Programme as injection for the procurement of seeds, water tank, planting materials to include sweet yam, cassava, fertilizers and chemicals for distribution to farmers to stimulate production and productivity.
RADA St. Catherine has also committed to continue to provide the technical and marketing information and trainings to complement these efforts.
The Dunkeld PMO has been existence for over four years. Overtime the members benefited from the National Irish Potato Programme, Production Incentive Programe and other initiatives.
The farmers were encouraged to utilize the donations given by H&L Agro and Newport Fersan (to include seeds, chemicals and fertilizers) to the best of your abilities and successfully forge ahead especially during these trying times.
