Newport Fersan assisting Farmers during the COVID 19 pandemic

Newport Fersan (Jamaica) Limited has come on board in a timely manner to assist famers through this COVID-19 pandemic in the donation of 2000 bags of fertilizers for distribution through the Rural Agricultural Development Authority and the Jamaica Agricultural Society valued at $3.8M.

Speaking at the Official Handing Over Ceremony at Newport Fersan Corporate Office, 2A/2B Wherry Wharf Complex, ,Newport East on Saturday, May 16, 2020, the Hon. J.C. Hutchinson, Minister Without Portfolio, MICAF, encouraged farmers to produce to feed the nation. He mentioned the need to have a proper structure in place for the distribution of produce island-wide through the value chain and stated that the introduction of food marts and mobile markets are steps in the right direction.

Mr. Peter Thompson, Chief Executive Officer, RADA also lauded Newport Fersan in their response to the farmers call which will in turn provide a much needed boost for farmers to get back into production.

The support given by Newport Fersan is a true testament to ensure that access to agricultural inputs are available for the next season as to produce we must to ensure a viable and sustainable future.
