The 14th anniversary of the 'Eat Jamaican Day' Celebration organized by the Jamaica Agricultural Society in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries (MICAF) under the mantra "Grow what we Eat, Eat What we Grow" was held at the Jamaica 4-H Clubs Headquarters, 95 Old Hope Road on Wednesday November 22, 2017.
The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) continues to support this initiative and participated through booth display and sampling of local produce through the RADA St. Andrew Social Services, Home Economics Unit.
Other organizations involved include: Tourism Linkage Network, Newport Fersan, Jamaica, Agri-Chem, National Irrigation Commission, Jamaica 4-H Clubs among others.
During the Official Function, Mr. Donovan Stanberry, Permanent Secretary MICAF mentioned the importance of the Eat Jamaican Campaign in the promotion of the nation's nutrition, cuisine culture and making strategic steps towards food security and self-reliance.
The essence of the 'Eat Jamaican' Campaign was borne out of the need to encourage consumers to recognize, support and to have a greater appreciation for the range and quality of Jamaica's Agricultural produce and products.
