Reap fruits at the proper stage of maturity (as is demanded by the market).
Ensure that all projecting nails, splinters and sharp edges are removed from handling containers. Where field baskets are used, make sure that all protruding nails and staples are properly clenched.
Ensure that peppers are kept in the shade.
Make sure that handling equipment (e.g. grading tables) is well cushioned, especially at points where fruits fall from one level to another.
Do not overfill or under-fill boxes.
All handling containers should be clean, free from corrosive materials (e.g. fertilizer, pesticides, etc.) small pebbles, diseased plant material etc.
Try to minimize handling as the risk of damage increases with the amount of handling.
Avoid any delays in reaping and final sale.
