RADA is now ISO 9001:2015 Certified

The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) is proud to have received the ISO 9001:2015 certification from the National Certification Body of Jamaica (NCBJ) following the successful completion of Stage 1 and Stage 2 Audits.

With the objective of implementing an effective and robust ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) in RADA, this new form of management tool will assist the organization to improve efficiencies within key areas of its operations.

The process commended in October 2018 wherein the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce through its ISO Quality Management Unit engaged RADA in a series of sensitization/training sessions geared towards ISO 9001:2015 Certification. To date, the ISO Quality Systems Unit has conducted a total of 22 sessions with RADA’s Senior Management Staff and Technical Specialists.

The outcomes of these sessions have resulted in the development of an ISO Scope Statement, Quality Policy and Quality Objectives. The scope of RADA’s ISO 9001:2015 Certification includes the following core services:

  • Design and development
  • Project  Implementation
  • Farm Visits
  • Farmer Registration
  • Distribution of Farm Inputs
  • Implementation of Production Incentive Programme

The Operational areas of this process include the RADA Corporate Office, Kingston and the RADA St. Thomas and St. Elizabeth Parish Offices respectively.

Support for certification was provided under the Strategic Public Sector Transformation (SPST) Project through the Ministry of Finance & the Public Service and in Collaboration with the Quality Systems Division, Ministry of Industry, Investment & Commerce. This SPST Project was funded by the World Bank.

It is the mandate and objective of RADA to maintain the ISO 9001: 2015 Certification thus continue the process of transformation and modernize business processes which will ultimately enhance the organization’s international competitive advantage and improve the quality of services offered to our farmers and other key stakeholders.
