PRIVACY POLICY
WHO ARE WE?
The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (hereinafter referred to as “RADA,” “we” and “us”) is the Data Controller responsible for the processing of your personal data under this Privacy Policy. We determine the purpose and means for processing your personal data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your personal information is handled responsibly and in compliance with Jamaica’s Data Protection Act, 2020 (DPA). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and safeguard your personal information when you access or use our website and mobile app. It will also inform you about your rights under the DPA. By using our services, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We may collect the following types of personal information when you use our website and mobile app:
Personal Information: this may include your name, address, occupation, farmer id, phone number, date of birth, email address and other contact information when you use our mobile app.
Technical Data: This may include your Internet Protocol (IP) Address, Operating System and Platform, Browser Type and Version, Location, Device Information and other technology on the devices you use to access our website or mobile app.
This data is used to detect and track user patterns and for troubleshooting purposes and is not linked to any personally identifiable information
Marketing and Communication Preferences: this includes your preferences in receiving general and/or marketing communications.
Account Login Information: this may include your unique login ID/email address, username, password in unrecoverable form and/or security questions and answers which are required to grant you access to your RADA app/ABIS account profile.
Websites/Communication Usage Information: this may include links form our page which you click on, pages/content you view, duration of visits to certain pages, download errors as well as other information and statistics regarding your interaction with content from our website. Information about your browsing and usage patter is captured using automated technologies such as: cookies, web beacons and other tracking technologies. Information is also collected through the use of third-party tracking for analytics purposes.
- For system administration, our web servers log standard access information including browser type, access times, URL requested and referral URL. Any individually identifiable information related to this data will not be used in any way other than that stated without your explicit permission.
- Users have the option to access or decline cookies. While most browsers automatically accept cookies, you may modify your browser settings to refuse cookies. You should be mindful that browser cookie settings may hinder you from taking full advantage of all the website features.
Consumer-general Data: this may include any content you create and share with RADA on third-party social networks or by uploading to our websites or applications. Where permitted by you or applicable law, we collect and publish consumer-generated content related to activities, such as website community features, consumer engagements, promotions, and third-party social networking.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use your personal information which you provide to us, with your consent, for the following non-exhaustive purposes:
- To provide and maintain our services, including registering your app profile
- To personalize and enhance your experience
- To respond to your requests and inquiries
- To generate and access eligibility information for agricultural projects
- To manage your access to restricted areas of the website and app
- To fulfil requests for reports, records and other similar information
- To fulfil contractual or legal obligations
- Corporate administration and all activities RADA is required to carry out as a Public Authority and Data Controller

We may share your personal information with:
- Agricultural Stakeholders
- Legal Authorities when required by law or in response to legal process
- Service providers, such as suppliers of agricultural resources and our cloud storage providers
- Professional Advisors
RADA maintains a ‘No Spam’ policy. This means we do not intend to sell, rent or otherwise provide your email address or other identifiable information to a third-party for non-agricultural purposes, without your consent.
DATA SECURITY
Internal access controls are employed to ensure that only those who need to access your information to perform their official duties can do so. RADA operates secure data networks across our online infrastructure which is protected by industry standard firewall and password protection systems. Our security policy is periodically reviewed and enhanced as necessary.
Whilst RADA uses all reasonable efforts to safeguard your personal data, you acknowledge that the use of the internet is not entirely secure and that for this reason, RADA cannot guarantee the security or integrity of any personal data which is transferred from or to you via the internet. If at any time there has been a breach to our systems which compromises your personal data, RADA aims to notify you within 72 hours of first becoming aware of the breach.
It is also important that you play a role in keeping your personal data safe and secure. When signing up for an online account, please be sure to choose an account password that would be difficult for others to guess and never reveal your password to anyone else. You are responsible for keeping this password confidential and for any use of your account. If you use a shared or public computer, never choose to have your login ID/email address or password remembered and make sure to log out of your account every time you leave the computer. You should also make use of any privacy settings or controls we provide you on our websites/applications.
WHAT ARE YOUR RIGHTS?
- Right to Access Personal Data – you may request that RADA confirm whether we have and are using your personal information.
- Right to Withdraw Consent – you may withdraw your consent for RADA to process your personal data overall or for a specified purpose.
- Right to Request Correction/Rectification of Data – you may request that RADA correct any personal information in its possession which you believe to be inaccurate or incomplete.
- Right to Restrict Processing – you may request that RADA restricts the processing (collection, access, use, storage, retention) of your personal data under certain circumstances.
- Right to Request Deletion of Data – you may request that RADA delete your personal data, in our possession, in certain circumstances.
- Right to Transfer Data/Data Portability – you may request that RADA transfer your personal data to you or another organization.
- Decline Automated Decision Making – you have the right not to be subject to decisions, based solely on automated decision-making.
In certain circumstances, RADA may not be able to delete your personal data without also deleting your online account. We may be required to retain some of your personal data after you have requested deletion, to satisfy our legal or contractual obligations.
CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
Our website and app are not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe your child has provided personal data through our website or app, please contact us immediately so we can promptly remove such information from our records.
PRIVACY POLICY
This Privacy Policy only applies to activities related to RADA’s website and app. It is valid for visitors to our website with regards to information collected and/or shared with RADA. This Policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website or our app.
