The Water Management Unit seeks to plan, direct and implement on-farm water management and drainage techniques by providing sound technical advice of a high standard to the farming sector.

The WMU focuses on methods that improve irrigation practices, the use of efficient irrigation systems along with the training of both farmers and technical officers. The Unit also facilitates the development of small scale irrigation schemes, rain water harvest systems as well as develops relevant farm demonstration plots and provides guidance on best practices in irrigation.

The main objectives of the Unit also include the promotion of sustainable use of land and water resources through appropriate water management techniques and to assist farmers to optimize the use of scare water resource whilst improving production and productivity.
