The Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining (MoA&F) and is Jamaica’s chief agricultural extension advisory and rural development agency. It is national in scope and its mandate is executed through the strategic deployment of its cadre of managerial, technical and support personnel across its island -wide network  service centres.


CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER – (GMG/CTD 2)
The Authority is seeking the services of a dynamic and results oriented professional to head its operations as Chief Executive Officer (GMG/CTD 2), who will be responsible to the Minister of  Agricultural & Fisheries through a National Board of Directors for the efficient and effective management of the Authority.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES

  • The Chief Executive Officer will be responsible for executing the Authority’s mandate and mission in accordance with government policy, the RADA’s Act and the other various policy instruments (Strategic, Corporate and Agricultural Development Plans).
  • To implement national policy initiatives for food security/food safety  and to improve rural and national economic development of the sector.
  • To Provide effective leadership, creativity and initiative to support the Authority’s Mission and Vision to become the leader in the drive towards achieving national economic growth and stability through agricultural and rural development..
  • To promote the diversification of agriculture and improve post-harvest handling to increase the value of agriculture to national development.
  • To maintain a high level of corporate governance accountability and transparency .
  • To develop and maintain a broad range of external relationships with Ministries and Departments of Government and other local, regional and international governmental and non-governmental  entities.
  • To provide a comprehensive and efficient extension service that is fully supported by Information Communication Technology.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
The individual must possess the undermentioned qualifications, knowledge, skills and Abilities:

  • Post graduate degree in the Agricultural Sciences, Business Administration, Economics Management Studies or any Equivalent qualifications from a  recognized university.
     
  • B.Sc degree in Agricultural Sciences from a recognized University.
     
  • Training in and exposure to business management, public administration, project management, rural development and information and communication technology.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience at the very senior management level within the public and/or private sectors.
