JOB PURPOSE:

Under the supervision of the Office Manager, the incumbent undertakes transportation assignments as well as conducts routine checks to ensure that the vehicle assigned is in good working condition.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Inspects vehicle to ensure that braking and signalling systems are functioning properly and there are adequate levels of fuel and oil.

  • Transports officers to required destinations.

  • Transports goods/equipment to designated destinations.

  • Delivers or collects mail/documents/office material.

  • Records assignments in the duty logbook.

  • Inspects certificates of registration and fitness for the vehicle assigned to ensure that they are current.

  • Takes vehicle for regular servicing and/or repairs as required. Checks work done to ensure that the Authority’s requirements are met.

  • Reports all defects/damages to vehicle with immediate effect.

  • Prepares and submits a detailed report on all accidents in which the vehicle is involved

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures that vehicle is kept in clean condition.

  •  Performs other duties as assigned from time to time

SPECIAL CONDITIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THE JOB

  • Extensive travelling island wide

  • Frequently required to work outside of normal working hours

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 4 SSC subjects including English Language and Mathematics

  • Ability to write simple reports

  •  Possession of a General Driver’s License

  • Two (2) years experience in a similar position
